I'll stamp all over 'credible fighter' Paul - Anthony Joshua
The British boxer is set to fight Jake Paul in an eight round match which will be shown in real-time on the streaming platform.
British boxer Joshua stated he will "stamp all over" the American and "defeat" his opponent as the combatants met personally to build hype for the upcoming heavyweight fight.
Former two-time world title holder Anthony Joshua battles YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul - in what is, on paper, a mammoth mismatch - at Miami's Kaseya Center on 19 December.
Boxer's Mindset
"I will break his face and hurt his body. I'm here to prove I'm superior," the British boxer, 35 years old, stated.
"I'll stamp all over him. That's the boxer's mindset.
"I will genuinely try to injure him. That's my goal."
Respectful Exchange
Despite those words, a calm Joshua and internet personality Jake Paul - normally famous for his theatrics - exchanged pleasantries and kept it respectful with each other.
Jake Paul instead targeted ex Joshua rival Francis Ngannou and described him as "ridiculous" after the Cameroonian declined a match opportunity.
Taking Aim at Tyson Fury
Joshua, in the meantime, criticized UK rival Tyson Fury - and refused a million-pound wager 'Tyson Fury' says he will place on a Paul win.
"Jake Paul is superior to Tyson Fury - he's present here," the boxer commented.
"I respect him for that."
Serious Opponent
In spite of saying he intends to damage his opponent, Anthony Joshua declined to talk badly about his rival's boxing ability.
"Jake Paul is a credible opponent," he stated.
Paul's Background
Jake Paul - who first rose to fame on the television network - has primarily boxed mixed martial artists or past-their-prime fighters since entering professional boxing.
He was defeated by Briton Tommy Fury in last year.
Financial Attraction
However, the novice remains one of the sport's largest money-making draws, regularly earning substantial financial rewards.
Prediction and Confidence
The 28 year old forecast a knockout win in round four or five and claimed he would derail the long-awaited Fury-Joshua bout, which is allegedly being planned for 2026.
"The next fight will be my match with Fury next year," Jake Paul said.
Physical Difference
As the two fighters participated in the customary stare-down, with their size difference clearly visible, it drove home just how surprising this whole event is - and how astonishing it is that the match is actually going ahead.
