A Pair of Arrests in the Aftermath of Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack
An additional two individuals are now in custody in connection with a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport where 21 people were injured by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, according to law enforcement.
A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area for suspected robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. They both remain in custody, the force said.
The arrests follow a probe into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the attack, two women were robbed of their luggage upon exiting a car park lift.
A three-year-old girl was among the injured in the event. A total of five individuals went to hospital for medical care and have since been discharged.
Officers detained a man in his thirties for suspected theft and assault close to the location. He has since been released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.
Police were called at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of several individuals hurt by a noxious substance believed to be an irritant spray.
The assault - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not considered terrorism - resulted in train delays and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking facility briefly.
